It has been an unusually fragrant spring this year. I usually do not select my orchids based on fragrance. Scented orchids are nice, and sure I appreciate the scent of the sweet Phalaenopsis bellina, or P. violacea as much as the next person, but I guess scent has always come second to beauty, wierdness, or color. But when it comes to Neofinetia I might have to make an exception because the fragrance is simply intoxicating!
I really like this regular white form of the Neofinetia falcata too. The flowers are notably larger than the ‘Shutenno’ and a slightly different shape. Best of all, the flowers opened just in time as the ‘Shutenno’ faded into history, so I get to enjoy the scent a little longer… If you can’t find me, just look for the nut with her head stuck into the warm viv… This is definitely a fragrance I wish you could bottle and save all year!
I have to agree with you, the Neofinetia falcata perfume is wonderful. I have it in my living room window on a humidity tray and every evening the fragrance just permeates the room. I started reading your blog last week and I find it extremely interesting. Keep writing.

Pat
Thank you Pat! It is very nice to hear that you enjoy my blog. 🙂 My Neo falcata ‘Shutenno’ is gearing up for round two this season. It has a new spike in progress, probably 2 weeks from blooming and I am really looking forward to it!
