The greenhouse build is nearing completion. Another week or two before it is all done and the orchids can start moving in. In the meantime the intermediate to warm growers have been enjoying summer outside in the shade by the summer cottage. They are really loving the humidity and warm days and relatively cool nights. There are new roots and buds forming all over the place. Still, I cannot wait to get them into the greenhouse where they will be better protected from the wind and rain. Then the cool growers will also get to come out and join them. Soon, very soon. Until then, enjoy a walk among the vacationing orchids, part two.

Just came upon your blog karma. Love it! Very inspiring, I will be checking back in often! I am also a happy “slave” to my ever-growing collection! Started with one innocent plant! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Thanks Mary! Very nice to hear you like the blog. Good luck with your orchids! 🙂
Wow, I remember when the indoor terrarium was being built. Now you’re doing a greenhouse? Awesome!
Thanks Mike. 🙂 Yes, it will be aweslme when it is done. Still a bit more to work out. Hope to share some more about it soon.
What is the little gem in bloom in the middle? The presentation is so adorable!
Thank you! 🙂 The tiny magenta gem is Schoenorchis fragrans. Lovely little mini.
Hi, I started following your blog about a year ago. I check regularly for new posts but noticed that you have not posted since July. I just wanted to drop a note to make sure you hadn’t switched to a new blogsite without me realizing. I don’t want to miss anything! Thanks!
Hi Kitt!
Very nice of you to check in on me. It has been a difficult year (personally), why the blog has suffered. But I am still planning on maintaining this blog and hope to write again very soon. My orchids are doing good and I do have much to share with you all. Soon. 🙂
Hi, happy to read that you will come back soon. I also miss your posts. I wish you to have a great 2014 year. Nat
Thanks Nat! Very nice to hear, and a great 2014 you too! 🙂
Hi! I’m a sort of beginner at growing orchids, wanted to know about the Schoenorchis fragrans- what do you have it mounted on? It’s very pretty.
Thank you Naul! It is mounted on a small piece of cork.
Thanks Karma for the quick reply. It is sort of difficult to find cork bark where I am (Bangalore, India), I was wondering if I could use something else.
Oh I forgot to mention- I love your blog!
Thanks a lot Naul! Very nice to hear! 🙂
If you cannot get a hold of cork bark, see if you can find pressed cork mats used for arts and crafts, just make sure they are natural untreated and not glued. Or you can use untreated strips of some kind of hard wood. Otherwise tree fern (Xaxim) is widely used for mounts.
