I got a division of this lovely Neofinetia from a friend in September last year. It bloomed already a month later and now it is time again. I really like this cultivar. It looks just like the regular white Neofinetia falcata, except for the amazing golden yellow color. The flowers open slightly lighter and darken with time. These photographs were taken about one week before they began to fail, when they are the very best in color. The fragrance is of course one of the best in the orchid world… I just never tire of it. I grow it mounted on cork in the intermediate vivarium, quite bright with good air cirkulation and high humidity. I water abundantly when in active growth and a bit less during the winter months.
Neofinetia falcata (Thunb.) Hu, Rhodora 27: 107 (1925).
Fabulous!! The yellows have a particularly rich fragrance, with more fruit tones than the standard whites. So glad you have a yellow in your collection!
