My Bionaire (BCM1250) humidifier just died, after only 9 months of use … Not very impressive. But luckily I had saved the receipt and the store where I had gotten it took it back, no questions asked. In exchange, I added 100 kronor (about $12) and got an ultrasonic unit from HACE (MJS-400) instead. Sweet!!

This wonderfully showy Paphiopedilum American Hybrid is blooming now. From the impressive coloration I bet you can find at least one parent in the Subgenus Paphiopedilum, not unlikely from gratrixianum.

I finally figured out a good and inexpensive way to upgrade all my three nebula light fixtures with reflectors. I bought Diamond Mylar (Reflect-A-Gro) and glued it into the fixure with spraymount. It turned out really good I think. Hope it gives even better distribution of the light. In theory a reflector should about double the usable light…
More light = happier orchids!! Good times.
Now, all interior for the new vivarium is finished. I am just going to run it overnight to check how hot it gets in there with the ceramic heatlamp (60W). Tomorrow a few orchids can move in. I am plannign on hanging some orchids on the sides and back wall then keep pots on the bottom.
