Masdevallia tovarensisI have 2 large Masdevallia tovarensis and I decided to divide one now that it has finished blooming. I actually found these M. tovarensis at a flower shop about two years ago. They were not in bloom and on the werge to be discarded when I saw them, so I got them for really cheap. They have now grown into huge healthy plants.

Next I divided the other half into three smaller plants. So all in all I ended up with one large division – you can barely tell that anything is missing – plus 3 really nice smaller divisions of generous size.

I sold two of the divisions and traded the third for small divisions of a Masdevallia hirtzii and a Dracula benedictii from a friend. A nice deal. Division? I really think it ought to be called multiplication.
