Vanda orchid on ski vacation
So we are up in Sälen skiing over the new year holiday and I could not find a babysitter for my vanda… So the little princess had to tag along to the montains. It turned out to be kind of cool to have her along on vacation though – as any vacation definitely is enhanced when it involves orchids… naturally. Here is my Ascocenda Princess […]
I measured my vanilla planifolia orchid today…
…and the longest vine (there are 4) has grown to be over 2 meters long (6,5 feet)! That means that it has grown about one meter since May!!
I had gotten a new rig for it to climb on so it was a good time to measure it since I had to wind it up in order to wrap it around the new support. […]
New orchid hybrid? Paphiopedilum werewolvius?
The mystery paph bud is growing and is getting hairier (and scarier) by the minute!! I can’t help to wonder if I have a new hybrid on my hand… a vinicolor x werewolf perhaps… 😉 The bud a couple of weeks ago.

With the water and leca bottom RH hovers between 60-70% and temp around 15-19 degrees thanks to the cooler air this close […]
My Leptotes unicolor orchid is blooming now
One of the mini orchids from O&M is bloming now in the nano. It came in bud so I cannot claim the honor, but it is quite lovely!!
A light upgrade in the orchid room
I really love the light fixture I got this summer in order to accommodate the growing collection and the new flask babies. In fact, I like it so much that I decided to get a second one. So, I sold the three “can” fixtures I had at the top of the window and got a second nebula hobby installed […]
Flask baby orchids status report
The flask baby project is progressing nicely… here you see the Phalaenopsis amboinensis babies.
The UK kids from Equatorial Plants are growing slowly… oh so slowly. For some you can see clear growth, especially Cattleya schilleriana and D. cyanocentrum. Even Paph. bellatulum and Phal. amboinensis (in the picture) are looking good, some are growing faster than others. Promenaea rollinsonii are […]
