Playing around with the theme…
Don’t be alarmed… I just felt like playing around with a new theme for the blog. So if it looks all screwy, go get some coffe and try again later. Thanks! 🙂

This sucks!!! I found red spider mites (Panonychus ulmi, or rött spinn in Swedish) on a plant I received in a trade a while back. What really upsets me is that the plant arrived infected and I did not know what to look for. I have never had to deal with spider mites before, but the horror stories I […]
I have been dreading sitting down and really figuring out how to fix all the stuff that broke when I upgraded the blog software to the latest version. Practically all the external plugins stopped working, but most developers were quick with fixes – but not the most important one, the one I use to manage photos. Kind of disturbing to be so reliant on one person/plugin to make the blogging a pleasurable and smooth operation, but […]
Finally it is time for some summer vacation!!
The vandas had to come with us to the summer house since they require daily watering. And why not? After bringing one (the princess Mikasa) on ski vacation last winter, I figured that all of them deserved a few weeks at a nice little red cottage by the coast for summer….

I am having some problems with a few plugins on the site after doing the latest WordPress (the blogging software) 2.8 upgrade. As much as it really sucks, I am working on figuring out what went wrong and how to work around it. Until then the images might not work as desired – popping up as new windows instead of lightboxes, not enlarging as they are supposed to etc. etc. etc.
Thanks for being patient!
Wow, with a title like that it sounds as if it was a major undertaking… it wasn’t. I just had the dear husband cut the panels to size for me – lol! Then I just plopped the smaller pieces in place.
I am using the plastic grid panels that used to come in fluorescent light fixtures in the 80’s […]
The Sofiero orchid show came with sunny blue skies and nice spring temperatures this year. Dear husband and I set out early in the morning to get there when they opened at 10 am. Well, we made it by 10:45 but who’s counting. The whole Sofiero park was in bloom, and the castle by the ocean looked almost like a fairytale […]
It is a wonderfully sunny spring day today so we took a walk up to the Botanical Gardens in Gothenburg to check out the spring blooming orchids. We were not disappointed. There were tons of orchids in bloom and a myriad of intoxicating scents coming from all corners of the greenhouses. I took a few pictures and made a slideshow for you to all to see. So welcome in and enjoy the show, too bad we don’t […]
A friend of mine was talking about fragrant orchids with her aunt who concluded that she “didn’t know of any that smelled nice, or like much of anything at all.” Well, the aunt is actually incorrect, but I understand why she would feel this way. Most hybrids in the local flower shops were […]
